Hi Folks

Sorry but can't make it on Saturday as Mum has just come out of hospital after 6 weeks so need to go and check her out on Saturday.
Hope you all have great time and don't hurt yourselves!

Sorry, but by the time I know if the weather is going to rain off the outside DIY this weekend, it will be too late to set out for Wales.

If there is no Patio action on Saturday though, I'll be out on the road on Sunday. (Perversely) here's hoping for rain!!

Reviewed the weather at 7.30 a.m. and decided it would be crazy to go - prepared text for Nick with apologies but it looked so wimpy we decided to brave it - and we're very glad we did! (actually I got up at 6.30, did all of the preparation, even wrote the text message - El lay in bed the whole time and made the occasional noise along the lines of "when you've decided what we're doing wake me up!" - Kev) WVCC Saturday MTB trips seem now to come with a mandatory 10 a.m. cup of coffee in a cafe whilst the rain drums on the window panes - yesterday was no different but we 5 brave souls (Nick, Chris G, Ross, Kevan and I) set off round the Marin trail and had a wonderful time. The trail is one of the "least worst" places to be on a wet day as it's under trees and the trail drains well. We rode around pretty fast: I took some satisfaction out of overtaking about a dozen breathless looking chaps whilst sitting at the rear of our WVCC train! Back to a cafe in Betwys for lunch and then Ross and Nick went off for more riding at Penmachno whilst Kev, Chris and I showed some sense and called it a day. Got back to Northwich where the kids said it had been dry all day so it sounds like Matthew got caught up in patio matters!

Glad you enjoyed it El. The Penmachno trail was even wetter but Ross and I enjoyed it too, even if we were pretty tired by the end; the persistent rain and cold really draining your energy. We managed to link to Penmachno from Bewys on quiet lanes, stopping to look at the spectacular swollen rivers on the way.
Betwys is an ideal starting point for a ride, especially with the free parking and range of cafes, pubs etc. Lots of other tracks to explore from here, so will probably make a weekend of it before too long. Dalby forest in N Yorks has been suggested as the next weekend venue. Any comments?

Shamefully, no DIY done this weekend which meant I enjoyed a roadie ride on Sunday.

I quite fancy Dalby Forest sometime, the trails centre is supposed to be a good one, and there are a lot of more natural options too.

FYI, the link on the main blog page to the main website diary doesn't work, there is an extra HTTP:// a the start of the link which I think is the problem.
