Llandegla and over the hills Sat 15 Oct

Thanks to Chris for the pictures. This was on our way from the top of the forest towards the Ponderosa.

The view from the top.

Then returning towards the cafe along a bridleway, Matthew and I doing our best to try and shake off Eleanor and Chris taking pictures on the move I guess.

And some video thanks to Matthew http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfWCD-W3Br0

Sounds great - if I can get there. Anyone have a spare seat in exchange for lunch and parking money?

Thanks.

Hi Matthew yes I can take you. Kev's not coming because he's doing a cycle x event. Do you have a bike now?

Ace, thanks. Yes I have a bike, Evans were great and offered me a new one of the same value as Commencal were delaying. It's a Specialized, much like your full-susser.

See you about 9.00?

I can probably take 1 passenger too ( might persuade Ann yet). El, do you know the route over to the Ponderosa and beyond?

Yes no worries, it's a nice route if a tad hilly!

Sorry i/we missed you guys. I was at Landegla on Sat AM with Oscar(12). He was in a welsh cycling go-ride mtb race at the back of the resevior & came 7th. We then did lunch & the Blue in the afternoon, followed by pump track & the easy None Extreme)bits of the freeride area. Great day.

Your easy rider note about the Mtb option for younger riders sounds Gr8. hope to see you soon.

PS: Me & Oscar have been doing forest night rides with TRACS UK & lights on a Thursday & its good crack.

Cheers John and well done Oscar!

Nine of us had a fantastic ride, thanks to Eleanor for finding the route. Up through the forest and then across the moors on some brilliant (and challenging) singletrack, eventually coming out at the Ponderosa cafe. Then along the ridge to the south before returning to Ponderosa along some more sheep tracks.

After lunch at the Ponderosa cafe we rode through the heather to rejoin the red trail, heading back to the centre on the black trail - superb! Just about every type of riding you can imagine, with views across to Snowdonia with gliders soaring in the clear blue skies.

Chris was going well and took some pictures which I'll put up here if you email them to me Chris.

Did you get some video Matthew?

I did get some film, but it never looks as good or fast on the screen! I'll try and put some bits together. Think I need get a bike mount to add a bit of interest, and stop occasionally to get some shot of others passing, but I never want to break off when I'm on a good bit, and it would force more waiting.

let us know when the video is up on utube - sounds like I missed a good one. throwing in a bit of a curve ball and brushing on what john said, i've since bought myself a new light from ebay, its a 'CREE XM-L T6 1600 Lum LED Bicycle bike Head Light Lamp' and it pretty much turns night into day. ive been doing quite a bit of night riding around delamere with it, mainly up and down old pale. hornby - i think this would be right up your street. the only trouble is you end up boring your other half to death with banter about 'the nocturnal wildlife of delamere' and 'how funny badgers look when they run'. i'll be going to the night ride with tracs on the thursday if anyone fancies 'sleeping with enemy'

I'm glad you all had a good ride, there is more to llandegla than you think when you cross the fence and get out into the big wide world.
Well done Eleanor for remembering the way and sharing it with everyone.
